Rules for School Eligibility:
Any four-year college or university may participate in the National Bioethics Bowl. All schools will have an equal opportunity to register during the open enrollment time period. Each school may initially only register one team to ensure that there are enough spots for all interested four-year schools. At the conclusion of the enrollment period and random selection, if there are any remaining spots, registration will reopen to interested participants who would like to register a second team. No more than two teams from one institution will be allowed to participate at any given time.
Rules for Student Eligibility:
Members of a school’s team at the national competition must be undergraduates at the time of the competition where “undergraduate” is defined for the purposes of the Bioethics Bowl as “someone who is enrolled at the time of the competition and has never been enrolled in a graduate program that is not a joint graduate/undergraduate program, such as a joint BA/MA program.” An exception is a student who has earned a bachelor’s degree by the time of the Bioethics Bowl competition but is still currently enrolled in another bachelor’s program.
Students who are not enrolled at the time of the national competition due to academic disciplinary reasons imposed by their school, such as suspension, expulsion, etc., are not eligible to compete at the national competition.
